We love sussing out the best wedding venues in Singapore – be it five-star hotels, secret gardens or the sandy shores of Sentosa. Now, we can add a historic landmark to the list with the unveiling of Caldwell House at CHIJMES.
Located adjacent to CHIJMES Hall, Caldwell House is a Neo-Palladian bungalow and Singapore's second oldest building. Built in 1841 by architect George Coleman, it previously served as a sanctuary for the French Sisters of the Congregation of the Holy Infant Jesus before being gazetted as a national monument in 1990.
Today, Caldwell House has been revamped by Watabe Wedding Group as Singapore's newest venue for intimate weddings and events. The 5,000 sq. ft. space seats up to 100 guests and is a beautiful marriage of heritage and luxury. It boasts beautiful white-washed interiors, large French windows, and a distinctive semi-circular façade overlooking Victoria Street. A key feature of Caldwell House is its original wall inscription: Marche en ma présence et sois parfait ("Walk alongside me and be perfect" in French) – an apt banner for wedding celebrations.
For couples looking to get married at Caldwell House and CHIJMES Hall, Watabe Wedding offers a full wedding package, which includes F&B, photography, videography, hair and makeup services. In addition, brides-to-be will have no trouble finding their perfect bridal gown. Local designer Jessicacindy has collaborated with Watabe Wedding to create an exclusive bridal and evening gown collection, Ethereal. Viewing is by appointment only at Caldwell House.
